The requirement for this task was to create a single A4-sized brochure about healthy eating for students at university.
Because of this brief, I myself was part of the intended audience and so when creating my brochure I had to take into consideration what colours and design style I would find visually appealing and create interest.
The Design
Colour, layout and hierarchy all needed to be taken into consideration when designing the pamphlet as lack of a clear structure would result in a visually frustrating piece of graphic design that did not portray the intended message.
I decided to use a 6-colour palette for the creation of my brochure – ranging from green to brown – as they are commonly liked colours. The green colour was specifically chosen because of the contextual link created in one’s mind, associating it with nature and health. The lined detailing adds visual interest and extra white space, in an otherwise fairly crowded brochure. I chose the fonts Elephant (headers) and Bachnschrift (body) to feature in my brochure.
The challenge I faced when creating this design was fitting all of the required information in a logical and easy-to-understand way.
