For this task, I was required to create a 16 page typographic zine that adhered to three main rules: the use of only one type, the incorporation of only two flat colours, and only the creation of imagery by typography.
I have always enjoyed the Bauhaus style and enjoyed playing with the shapes, colours and arrangements of the classic style to create this fun, graphic zine.
As the requirements for the creation of the zine dictated the use of only two flat colours, this posed a problem for my design as Bauhaus is known for its primary three-colour palette.
Through further investigation into the most prominent colours used throughout Bauhaus graphic design, it was decided that yellow was the least important of the three colours and so blue and red were chosen to be featured in my zine instead.
Additionally, white and black are also common colours featured in Bauhaus. To get around the zine requirements while also utilising these colours, I decided that I could use white stock to incorporate that colour, as well as a very dark blue, almost black shade (meaning that my zine still adhered to the instructions).
